FLIP PHONE: Instead of a phone with a flexible, foldable display, the Chinese manufacturer Axon M of ZTE is a spectacular folding phone that has two screens in a hinge.
The age of the folding smartphone is now upon us with the launch of ZTE Aton M and its two screens of 5.2 inches (1,920 x 1,080 pixels each). The dual screen configuration allows users to get the best of Android multitasking capabilities.
The phone offers various viewing modes, such as using one application per screen, playing a game or watching a video on both screens (expanded mode, equivalent to 6.75in), duplicating the same content on both screens or merely using a single screen as one traditional telephone.
Another fantastic feature in the spec sheet is the unique 20-megapixel camera, which, due to the unusual format of the phone, serves as the main camera and selfie camera.
Otherwise, the Axon M has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4 GB of RAM. It has 64GB of built-in (expandable) storage, a fast charge mode, a fingerprint reader and a headphone jack.
This phone will be launched in 2017 in Japan (through DoCoMo) and the United States (AT & T), before a possible arrival in Europe sometime in 2018. The price has not been announced.
This smartphone is a kind of curiosity. It could be a precursor to a new and much-anticipated generation of flexible and foldable phones, which are currently being investigated in several mobile device manufacturers, in particular, the market leader, Samsung.
