Seagate’s new hard drives are so massive that it could have difficulty filling them.
Seagate’s BarraCuda Pro has a capacity of 12TB
The company alleges it has the fastest, highest capacity and most reliable hard drive for desktop computing ready on the market.
The BarraCuda Pro, according to Seagate, offers twice the space of its closest competitor, and its high speed is ideal for data-intensive activities such as large file transfer and photo editing.
Despite its large capacity, the unit is also fast with a spin speed of 7200 RPM (revolutions per minute). It holds a data transfer rate of up to 250MBps.
At the very time, two network-attached storage (NAS) grade models – IronWolf and IronWolf Pro, both with 12TB of storage, were also introduced.
In both models, according to Seagate, are ideal for file sharing, remote access and backup for small to mid-sized businesses, businesses, and creative professionals.
IronWolf and IronWolf Pro support the transfer speed of up to 210MBps and 250MBps respectively.
“Offering the highest system capacity, reliability, performance, and scalability in the industry, Seagate IronTool IronTool IronWolf Pro hard drives enable customers to centralize their data on NAS systems to ensure uninterrupted access to multiple users,” according to a statement from the company.
All three models are available in the 3.5in form factor that is often used for desktop and NAS.
According to Seagate, hard drives are now shipped to customers worldwide, but local availability has not yet been verified at the time of writing.
